Week 31 Game Summary - Much better than last week when I had to beg players to show up, although it was a bit disappointing that we didn't get all of our RSVPers out. We did find some new players this week. In a way, it kind of reminds me of how I met Brian years ago. This game started about 13 years ago by me and some friends of mine (none of who play any more) and in the beginning, it was a small game. 4 on 4 was a good game. 5 on 5 was great. Then one day after a game, Brian showed up with some friends of his to play their own game. So my friend Marc and I stuck around to play with them. The next week, we combined games. and the game has been going strong ever since. Every year we lose a few players but the key is that we also find new ones.

This week, several guys showed up around 11:00 after playing in a flag league game. They fit right in and hopefully will continue to come out.

Chris continues to the right after chipping Casey but when he gets to the right side of the line, he curls around into the backfield and takes a handoff behind Cain. With Cain lead blocking Chris runs up the left sideline and scores after basically throwing Cain into a defender not unlike that scene in School Ties where Brenden Fraiser throws Matt Damon into the guy who needed blocking.

Outstanding Performances - Lets start with Tom with a 44.12% completion percentage, 221 yards and 2 TDs. Add another 62 yards and 2 TDs as a WR and 7 flags and defensed pass on defense and you have an outstanding performance. Mark had 94 combined yards and a TD as well as 2 flags with one being a sack. Mike's 61 yards, 4 flags and a pass defensed were also noteworthy.

Paul had 92 combined yards and 2 TDs as well as 5 sacks and a pick. Jimmy's 159 combined yards were the game high. He also had more receptions than anyone at 6 and got 2 TDs. His defensive effort included 2 flags (one a sack) and a defensed pass. Chris' 71 combined yards, 2 TDs and defensed pass were also rather nice. Adam put tried to make a case for MVP with 120 combined yards, 2 TDs and 6 flags and 5 defensed passes (5 is a record - the safety spot is definitely agreeing with him) - however neither his play nor Jimmy's were sufficient to win the award this week (though they would have been shoe-ins in other weeks).

This week's MVP can only go to one player - Cain. Cain had a 47.83% completion percentage and 448 yards and 8 TDs between both teams. Cain also had 3 flags (2 of which were sacks), a pick, and a defensed pass. Very, very nice. While it helped to play all time QB for 3 series, if you back out his numbers on Yellow, he still had 6 TDs, 318 yards, and a 47.22% completion rate for Red.

1-18 from the 32: Pass by Kris to Adam for 43 and the TD. Play was Trips right with Adam on the outside. Chris and Casey both ran straight and Adam cut under them both. Leo - who was covering Adam - got caught up in traffic.

1-15 from the 10: Pass by Nick to Leo - incomplete. Long nice throw to Leo but Kuzi got into the play and nearly had the pick. Still managed to defense the pass.
2-15 from the 10: Pass by Nick to Leo for 10 yards - stopped by Kuzi.
3-5 from the 20: Pass by Nick to Leo - incomplete. Ball was just a little behind him. Possibly catchable but it would have been tough.
4-5 from the 20: Pass by Nick to Ethan for 55 yards and the tying TD. Adam was so sure the play was a fake in and then out that he played the route rather than the man when Nick rolled that direction (into the supposed-route). Ethan just continued his cut in and ended up alone. Adam and Kuzi each came close to getting the stop at about the 25 but neither made the flag grab.

Game ends in a 4-4 tie.

Outstanding Performances - Some really good ones this week.

Both QBs had really really good days. Kris had a 40% completion rate, 261 yards, 4 TDs and no Picks. He ran the big play offense - 10 completions but an average of 26 yards each as a result of a couple huge plays. Nick had a 50% completion rate (remember, 40% is a great game), 330 yards (anything over 225 or so is very good) and 3 TDs. Then throw in a cople flags by each of them on defense and a defensed pass by Nick and you have very nice games.

On to the Eligibles, I'll start with our newest players Kuzi and Chris. Kuzi was good for 93 yards on 4 catches with a TD. He also had 3 flags and 2 defensed passes on defense. Chris had 1 big play of 57 yards on offense that resulted in a TD and he had a flag, 2 defensed passes, and an interception on defense. What's more impressive is that he did it playing in 3 offensive and 3 defensive series!

Ethan had a big day with 134 yards and 2 TDs as well as 2 flags and 3 defensed passes. Leo also had a big game with 93 yards and 2 TDs plus 2 flags and a sack (and other other credited pressures). Adam had a good game on Offense with 69 yards and 2 TDs on 2 catches but didn't have as good a game on defense. 6 Flags would normally be great but since most of them were against the guy he was covering, it means he didn't do a good job in coverage. He did have 3 defensed passes and a sack though. Unfortunately, his big mistake on the last play caused his team to go from a win to a tie.

Week 31 Preview - We're moving into last month of the season. Not many games left so you don't want to miss them. Don't make me beg.
