Both QBs had to suffer through some drops and Cain was 0 for 10 with a pick to start the game but considering the wind and the new guys who need to come out early next time and warm up their hands, they ended the game with reasonable numbers. Both QBs did a nice job trying to get the ball around and Cain managed to get 4 of his receivers a TD and the 5th got his on the ladder part of a H-n-L.

Treadaway and Mark were the triple digit yardage leaders this week. Zieser had 98 and 2 TDs. Treadaway was the other 2 TD player this week.

Leading defenders were Adam, Street, and Cain though nearly everyone had a sack or a defensed pass. Mark must have been tired from rushing all time last week since he decided to play safety after a few series but he still managed a sack and a QB pressure in only like 3 series rushing.

Awards:
MVP - Cain overcame a rough start at QB to put in descent if not spectacular final numbers. He also made plays when the ball was not in his hand like his block on Adam's run. On defense he had a nice sack and 3 defensed passes.

Offensive Player of the Game - Treadaway with 7 catches for 103 yards, 2 TDs, and 4 first downs.

Defensive Player of the Game - Tough call between Adam and Street. Technically Max had as many fantasy points but they came primarily due to the safety which is one play. Adam was certainly making Street's life difficult but I think that Street's defensive play was probably bigger. His first pick was on the first play and led immediately to a TD. His second gave Yellow a short field again and again resulted in a score. But for those plays, and the game might not have been close (which it was until Red's 10th Drive). So Street gets the award this week.

While stats from this game will count, I'm not assigning wins and losses to the game because the teams were not fair after Jesse got hurt and RChin left which resulted in the craptastic 6 on 5 game. Race went over to take Jesse's place and while he's not a bad player by any stretch, it was his first game and it takes time to pick up on the play design and route running expectations.

That meant that Yellow lost their best receiver (arguably the best receiver out there on Saturday with Canadian originally expected to play QB) Yellow had 2 new players on their team. Meanwhile Red had Adam, BB and Jeff (relatively new but very experienced in our game) and Huff who was quite fast along with Cain who had been playing much more QB of late. Adam or BB should have gone over to Yellow when Jesse left and that might have made the teams a bit more fair. Still, people still played - Mark got sacks, people got TDs and picks so the stats count - just not the win/loss.

Huff and Jeff were the receiving leaders with over 90 yards each and 2 TDs a piece. BB and Adam were next with over 70 yards and a TD. RChin was starting to have a nice day before he left.

Mark was sack leader (I know, you're shocked) with 5 and he also had 2 defensed passes (one that led to a pick-six) and 2 QB pressures. Cain had 3 defensed passes and a pick. Huff and Jesse each had a pick and a defensed pass. Race, Biscuits and Jeff each had a defensed pass as well.

Awards:
Cain is MVP - he made some nice defensive plays and threw some beautiful passes (and did a lot of dancing and Mark overpowered one lineman after another).

Mark is defensive player of the week. Even if he had been playing only defense one way, he probably would have gotten it this week. Adam had the same number of fantasy points because of his pick-six but that play was partially the result of Mark's tipping the pass.

Jeff is Offensive Player of the week. Huff had similar yards and TDs but Jeff had 8 catches on 9 targets. That's the definition of clutch and 6 of the 8 plays resulted in either 1st downs or TDs.

Choices, Choices

2 weeks ago, some HS/JHS football coaching organization had rented out the fields. As a result, we used the little field behind the softball field for the game. This last week, after 3 days of solid rain, I set up on the same small field since it has far, far more grass on it.

The question is, should we keep playing on that field even though it is close to 5 yards narrower? I think the field size made a difference this last week. It certainly did on a potential TD play to Josh and probably contributed to a lot of that pressure the QBs felt since they didn't have as much room to run/scramble or to spread out receivers in patterns.

Obviously, it would best to play on the bigger fields if we get 18 people. 16 is probably even pushing it a bit though 14 works pretty well. The obvious benefit to the smaller field is that there is much more grass on it which is much nicer to run (or fall) on.

Preferences? If we have a week where we're going to only have 14 (or it's been raining), should I set up on the small field and then set up on the wider field when the numbers are bigger?

QB's endured 17 Sacks!!!! (More about them later). As a result, the relatively low completion percentages and yards passing are understandable. But I was a bit shocked by the yardage. During the game, it did not feel like the ball wasn't getting moved much.

Not often that a player has over 100 yards rushing/receiving and no TDs but we had 2 this game with Canadian and Cain with 117/118 yards respectively. BB had 7 catches for a TD, 3 first downs, and 87 total yards.

As I mentioned, SEVENTEEN SACKS! Holy crap - that's a lot of pressure. In fact, if you add in 3 more QB pressures and 3 defensed passes at the line and you've got 23 of 84 pass plays directly disrupted by pressure. But it's not like the secondaries weren't doing their jobs. Low scoring game, low yardage game, and 3 picks and 13 other defensed passes.

Mark was defensive leader with 4 sacks (one for a safety), 2 defensed passes (one of which resulted in a pick), and a QB pressure. BB had a great day too with 2 defensed passes, 2 picks, and a sack. Carlos tied Mark with 4 sacks. Greg made his debut with 3 sacks and a defensed pass. Matta and Biscuits each had 2 sacks. Canadian and Cain each had 2 defensed passes and Canadian also had a pick.

Canadian did pretty well in his debut as a punter for Red.
