Nick had a pretty good day even with the wind making it harder as the game went on. Burleson's rating appears to be driven by the one big TD catch and run.

Adam had a lot of yards but most of them came on one catch and run - total of 2 catches and one run for 92 yards with 1 first down and 1 TD. Leo had 2 catches for 58 yards both of which got first downs.

Chris has 180 yards on 11! completions, 6 for first downs and 1 for a TD. Day had 69 yards on 3 catches, 2 for first downs and 1 for a TD. Jesse had 43 yards on 4 catches where 1 was for a first and the other 2 were for TDs.

4 Yellow players had 2 defensed passes each: Adam, Burleson, Curits, and Leo. Adam, Leo and Mesa each had a sack.

Nick had the biggest defensive game for Red with a defensed pass and a pick. Chris also had a defensed pass.

MVP: Kind of tough in a way because Nick was clearly a difference maker for Red but once again, I have to look at the player who was basically unstoppable and that was Chris who was targeted 18 times for a good reason, he caught 11 and kept moving the chains.

Week 14 Game Summary:

Horrible game (especially for Red). One of the worst ever. It was 9:35 before we had enough players to play and that meant standing around in the miserable wind freezing our asses off. Then we start playing and the wind gets worse.

54 yards for the top receiver? Really? What a pathetic day offensively. The only excuse, Yellow receivers get is that they started inside the 40 five times - three inside the 20 and they had 2 Pick-Sixes so they didn't play too as much offense.

Well, at least there were some nice defensive performances. Brandon and Mark each had 2 defensed passes and one of Mark's resulted in a pick. Biscuits also had a defensed pass. Jimmy had 2 picks. Red generally deserves some credit considering Yellow got into the red zone 4 times and only had 2 offensive touchdowns.

Yellow defense had the better day though. Cain had 2 picks and a defensed pass. Jesse and Ray both had a pick and defensed pass. Ronny had a sack and a defensed pass. Donnie had a Pick-Six and a defensed pass. Barry alos had a Pick-Six. Chenault had a defensed pass. Basically every player on Yellow had at least one noteworthy play on defense.

I think this was really the best game of the year. It was evenly matched and not just on the score board. The stats were pretty even too. Can't imagine anyone being disatisfied by that game - though I've been lobbied pretty hard for the MVP so I'm sure that there will be some disatisfied with that selection.

All QBs had nice days with completion percentages over 40%. Our 4 QBs combined for nearly 48% passes completed (would have been over 56% if not for 6 drops). They also had 910 Yards in passing. The stats now include the NFL QB rating system. The rating really isn't statistically valid for smaller numbers of attempts but I think the stat adds to the overall evaluation nicely. I'm starting to think I may have to modify my grading system though. Previously, I thought that a 40% completion percentage in this game is a very good game. Now, we rarely have a QB NOT hit at least 40% and 50% is becoming more and more common.

Yellow's leaders were Burleson with 178 yards and a TD, Leo with 113 yards and a TD, and David who only had 34 yards but made them count with 2 TDs. Leo was the goto guy for Yellow touching the ball 6 times and delivering 4 1st downs and the TD.

Reds had 3 receivers with over 100 yards. Jesse had 132 yards on 7 catches/carries with 5 going for 1st downs. Jimmy had 155 yards on 5 catches/carriers with 3 TDs and a 1st Down. Chris, though was dominant as a receiver. He had 222 yards that went for a TD and 6 1st downs. Not only that but Chris was targeted 12 times on passes and had 11 catches! The one ball he didn't catch was overthrown. Talk about a goto receiver.

On Yellow, David had a nice pick, Canadian had 6 flags and a defensed pass, Donnie had a sack, Day had a defensed pass, Josh had a sack AND 2 defensed passes and Leo and Nick each had a defensed pass. Red had Jesse with a pick and a defensed pass, Mike and Jimmy with 2 defensed passes each, Chenault with a sack and Adam with 7 flags - at least two of which were worth noting for their involving chasing down players from a distance and saving TDs.

MVP: There were really many worth candidates this week. Nick's huge numbers at QB made him worthy. Burleson's 178 yards as a receiver were pretty amazing too. You can't praise Jimmy enough for 155 yards and 3 TDs. There were also players doing the little things that don't always show up in stats like improvising on a broken play or making key blocks to help other players score (like that nice screen to Jimmy that Chenault drew up and then was lead blocker on). On another day, Leo's 113 as a receiver and his nice performance as a QB would also put him in the top consideration and Jesse did nice things on both sides of the ball which I like to see.

One of the suggestions made was to give the award to an entire team (Red) because it really did play very well together with lots of the blocking and coordinating of plays. However, the game ended in a tie and you could say many nice things about Yellow's performance.

When I look at the story of the game and think back to how it played out and what people were saying during it, I come to one performance that I see as truely dominant and that was Chris'. Chris caught every catchable ball despite the fact that he was double covered on many plays. Even when he was not being thrown at, drawing double coverage opened up other plays. If you look, he was in routes on nearly every scoring drive that Red had. Yellow simply had no answer for him last week. I'm sorry if anyone feels slighted but this week Chris is my pick for MVP.
