Week 12 Game Summary

The weather cooperated this week so we had a game. Actually a pretty good game though it had an amazing number of drops (thankfully, none of which were mine).

Nick had another big day with 357 yards and a 46.55% completion rate. Before you look askance at Cain's percentage, he did have 2 drops and the 4 sacks count as incomplete passes (as Nick's 5 sacks did). Jeremy had a nice completion percentage but low yards. Had he not been victimized by 4 drops, he would have had 57% passes completed and probably ended up with 170+ yards.

Receiving/Rushing Stats:
As you'll note, Rushing/Receiving Stats includes a new category this week: 1st Downs. Making 1st downs are second only to making touchdowns in terms of offensive production.

Red had 4 players with over 40 yards: Day with 45 (3 catches, 5 targets), Street with 46 and a TD (4 catches, 5 targets), Kuzi with 61 and a TD (4 catches, 6 targets - the TD sealed the victory. Had he not caught it, Yellow would have been able to play for the tie), and Ray with the big numbers: 105 yards and 2 TDs (7 catches, 15 targets) - he also led Yellow with 3 1st downs.

Yellow had several nice performances as well. Jeremy had 45 yards before shifting to play QB about halfway through the game. Chenault had 59 yards (6 catches on 10 targets, plus a run) - he also led Yellow with 3 1st downs. Cain led all players 113 yards (3 catches on 8 targets with a TD, plus 4 runs).

Curtis may hahve been injured about halway through the game but he turned in a nice defensive performance with a pass defensed and a sack. Day, Ethan, and Kuzi each had a sack. Nick and Ray each had a pass defensed and a sack and Jesse had 2 defensed passes. Jesse and Ray were the leading tacklers for Red.

Yellow's most outstanding defensive performances were by Canadian with 3 passes defensed and a pick, Jeremy with 2 defensed passes and a pick-six, Mark with 2 passes defensed and a sack, and Chris and Chenault each of whom had 2 sacks. Canadian had 6 flags to lead Yellow in tackles.

MVP: Worthy candidates for Yellow (had Yellow won) would have been Jeremy and Chenault, both of whom had very nice games on both offense and defense. Red candidates included Ray and Nick. This was obviously a tough choices since Nick had some nice numbers as QB and made some plays on defense. However, Ray had a similar game on defense (each had a sack and a defensed pass) though he had more flags. Ray may not have had a high "reception ratio" but this was primarily because he was thrown to a lot on fly routes and Canadian had a great game defensing passes and picking one of the bombs intended for Ray. Ray is the week 12 MVP.
