Week 24 Game Summary - I do love 7 on 7 games, especially when we generally have everyone there on time despite major parking problems.

Game starts at 6 on 6 with Ethan sitting and Barry on Yellow. Leo was expected to join Red.

Cain made a quick block near the line and then a bigger block about 15 yards down field on Rich that gave Adam enough room for a couple spins and the score. What was best about this play was that it was a designed pass but the defense was set open on the left and so Adam suggested the run to Cain and it actually worked (unlike last week when Adam asked for it from Leo and got stuffed for a 3 yard loss). 5-1, Red.

2-15 from the 10: Pass by Cain to Josh for 12 yards - stopped by Teo. One of those close plays where the flag was pulled a bit before possession because it was bobbled but it was decided that Josh was probably touched.

4-3 from the 22: Pass by Cain to Josh for 12 yards - stopped by Mike. Roll left and hitting Josh who's running an out to the left.

1-24 from the 26: Same Cuba Libre play as before. Pass by Nick to Fabian for 5 yards who pitches back to Leo who takes it 24 yards before being stopped by Cain.

1-Goal from the 20: Nick to Fabian for 20 and the TD. 8-3, Red.

Game ends on an odd number of series.

Several people had to leave so we then played a little 5 on 5. Paul had one huge play for 50 yards or so and then a second one for the TD. Then Yellow didn't do much and we quit.

MVP - Lot of good performances to choose from and I'm not sure who to award it to. Consider the key contenders:

Erik - 6 receptions for 77 yards and 3 TDs on 9 targets. Then he has 5 flag grabs and an INT returned for a TD (on the first play of the game).

Paul - 42 combined yards on offense with 1 receiving TD and 1 rushing TD. On defense he had 3 flags, 2 passes defended and 3 INTs including one returned for a TD (and it wasn't a gimme).

So looking at these two performances, Erik had the stronger offensive performance (and proved why he was the goto receiver) while Paul had good offensive production but a better defensive game.

But then there's the wild card. To me, anything close to 50% in passing is huge in our game. At 39.39%, Cain didn't hit that but he did have 206 yards, 5 passing TDs, NO picks and laid out a couple key blocks including one that almost certainly gave Adam the chance to score a 30 yard rushing TD. On defense he only had 2 flags but did get a pick.

Honestly, I don't know how to pick this one. 6 Receptions, 77 Yards, and 4 total TDs is big, big game any week. But in this game, it was defense that was key. Defense killed drives, preventing scores and giving Red great field position for relatively easy conversion. Still, 200 yards 5 TDs and 0 picks is pretty good stuff, especially on a very windy day. I give up, I'm impressed by all three.

Week 25 Preview - Nick demanded a rematch but we'll see who shows up.
