Week 23 Game Summary

There was a game, though just barely. Those who thought the weather would be bad were mistaken. It was cold and misty but literally only rained twice and each episode lasted for about 40 seconds.

We played up at Round Rock and one of the things we noticed was that there was a LOT more grass. There were about 5 full fields and all of them were in better shape than the fields at McNeil.

Nick was actually all-time QB until the last series when Biscuits took over and Nick played receiver.

Game starts 4 on 4 with all time QB. QB had to throw within 4 seconds or the play was dead. There were a couple of plays that got close to 4 seconds but nothing egregious. As you can imagine, no rush and no safety created a high yardage, high scoring game with a lot of stuff you could never do in a real game (5 called and executed lateral/pitch plays?!?!)

This is what happens with no pressure besides the clock. Still, 17 TDs and over a thousand yards in a game with only 2 picks is pretty damn good.

Normally I start with the leading receiver but this week, I have to make special mention of Mike's performance. Mike had 8 catches on 12 targets for 154 yards, 2 first downs and 5, count'em 5, TDs. Career day for Mike.

Quite a few people had career days on offense, actually. Jesse too had a monster day with 140 combined yards for 3 first downs on 7 catches and pitch. Canadian's 121 yards for 2 TDs and a first down on 6 catches and a pitch. Biscuits had 98 yards, 2 first downs, and 2 TDs on 5 catches. Kishore had 87 yards for 2 first downs and 2 TDs on 5 catches. Raj had 147 yards for a TD and 2 first downs on 9 catches and a pitch.

But biggest career day went to Adam who playing now in his 15th year had caught all 11 passes thrown to him and had a pitch that totald 275 yards, 4 first downs, and 4 TDs.

I know. With 18 TDs, you're wondering if ANYBODY had a big day on defense. Well, Jesse had 8 flags and defensed pass. Chris, Adam, and Biscuits also each had a defensed pass. Kevin had pick and a defensed pass. Raj had 2 defensed passes. And our defensive leader was Canadian with 10 flags, 2 defensed passes, and a pick.

MVP: There are a lot of people who could get MVP this week and not just for their on field play. Lets start with Biscuits who brought 3 people out. Without them, there'd be no game. Kevin, Raj, and Kishore all deserve props for getting up early on a cold, potentially wet day to come play a different type of game than they're used to. Erik deserves mention for calling and, realizing that there was a chance we wouldn't be able to play without him, came out to play even though he had said earlier in the week that he wasn't feeling well and likely wouldn't be able to play. Even NICK came out in the cold and potentially wet weather and made sure everyone had a good time.

Having said that, there were two on field performances that stood out this week. Mike just kept catching balls and running for TDs. It was unreal. In any other week, you could pretty much guarantee that Mike would win. But not this week.

When I first started awarding an MVP each week, it was during a game where one player simply was unstoppable. No matter what he did, he was successful that game. Adam's performance on offense met that standard this week. Even if you don't consider the fact that Mike was not on the winning team (some people seem to think the MVP should always come from the winning team), using fantasy points, Adam came out ahead due to more yards, receptions and 1st downs. 11 for 11 for 275 yards and 4 TDs is a hell of a day.
