Week 30 Game Summary

This was a disappointing week - not so much the game which was relatively fun given the circumstances but because we only had enough players for 4 on 4.

Teams were a little odd. We actually started 5 on 4 with an all-time QB for a couple series and then dropped to 4 on 4 when Alex HS left. Leo ended up leaving around 11 as well but fortunately Ben had just shown up so he subbed in for Leo. The final teams were basically:

Had Barry not prevented the catch by cutting in, there would have been a ton of YAC. Its even more important because of what happens next . . .

Chenault had been flushed right but rather than throw out of bounds, he threw back blindly to the middle of the field and, worse, threw it up high to get it over Day's tall arms in his face and it hung in the air for a long time making it easy for Nick to pick the ball at about the 5 and run it in. 7 - 5, Red.

Lot of QBs this week with 4 players lining up at QB (plus Jesse throwing on a half-back option). Leo had the best passing day with 376 yards, 5 TDs vs 2 picks with 56% completion rate. However, one really should not discount Chenault who improved upon the prior week's showing with a 47.5% completion rating and 5 TDs as well.

Our yards leader for the game Nick with 168. He wasn't the only player to end the day with triple digit yardage numbers but its worth remembering that without a line, everyone was a receiver on every play. So you should almost drop all the receiving/rushing numbers in half to compare them to a normal game. Having said that, Jesse had 153 yards (should have been another 47 yards on that one play where he was ruled to have stepped out), Barry had 144, Matta had 124, Adam had 106, and Day had 104. We had 4 players with 2 TDs, Nick, Adam, Jesse, and Matta. Jesse was Mr. Dependable with 6 catches of 8 targets and 3 rushes (4 plays resulting in 1st Downs and 2 resulting in TDs).

Two players, Nick and Jesse, had Pick-Sixes. Nick and Jesse both had 2 defensed passes but Jesse had 4 total picks. Day had 2 sacks. Adam had a sack and 2 defensed passes. Matta, Barry, Day, and Leo each had a defensed pass.

MVP - I feel a little badly here because Chenault played a very good game but honestly the race for MVP between Nick and Jesse. While it was close, Jesse had more fantasy points and was on the winning team and was a big reason for why his team won. His defense was outstanding and he made some terrific plays on offense like his first TD which was 72 yards, all YAC, and required about 110 yards of actual running.
